It’s funny how those four words get left out of most discussions about prayer; “according to His will”. Just what IS His will? I would suggest that God knows His will for us much better than we do. I would further suggest that while we COULD know it, we don’t because we don’t know Him the way we could.
We tend to ask that God’s will be done for us, but we could know His will for us so much better if we would just take the time. We don’t get whatever we desire, but rather whatever we ask for within the parameters of God’s will for us. That probably doesn’t include winning the lottery or getting a brand new European sports car we truthfully don’t need … those are things that would draw us away from God eventually. He honors requests that enable us to honor Him. He meets our needs, not our wants. We need to make our wants line up with His will. Take the time to know God better. That IS His will for us.
