Psalm 25:14
Living Bible
“Friendship with God is reserved for
those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his
promises.”
Why
would anyone be satisfied with a casual or passing relationship with the
creator of all things? It is those who revere God that are inclined to serve
him. It is with those who draw near to him that God bestows his blessings, not those
who do not appreciate them for what they are. He loves us all unconditionally
and looks for that same love in return. While we cannot experience him with our
senses, but by faith we can feel his spirit as it moves around and thru
us.
The
theme of this Psalm of David is that it is a prayer for defense, guidance and
pardon. Like all of scripture, it easily pertains to us today as well. We certainly need the Lord’s protection,
direction and forgiveness. We will
always need that. As we draw close and
stay close to our Lord we will grow spiritually, allowing for growth in both
our faith and trust in him. The maturation process of the Christian takes place
in direct connection to our constant desire to behave like our Savior.
Like
David, we must place our undying, unwavering love and trust in our Heavenly
Father for he alone is our salvation from ourselves and all that we have done
against his will and word. We can come
to know the deeper nuances of his wisdom and meaning, but only thru earnest
prayer and searching. God does not
conceal from his faithful children that which they seek as long as it is in
line with his will. Serve God for his
promises and blessings are limitless. Until next time, walk with the King and
be a blessing!
