2 Peter 3:10-11
“But the day of the Lord will come
as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible
noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth
and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be
destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, …”
There is a day coming of which no man knows the hour or
day. It is the great and terrible day of
Christ’s return. I am not speaking of
the Rapture of the Church, for on that day believers will rise to meet the Lord
in the clouds. I am speaking of the
Second Coming of Christ when his feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives.
For those who have not received the forgiveness of God thru Christ, it will be
a terrifying day. Those who have been striving to develop a Christlike
character are safe from God’s White Throne Judgment and eternal
punishment. Those who have lived for
themselves and spent their life piling up possessions have everything in the
world to be concerned about; however, it’s not too late to repent until God
says it’s too late.
Let it be known this day that God is a kind, loving,
compassionate and merciful Heavenly Father who doesn’t wish that any would go to
hell. Hell was created for Lucifer and his
followers, not mortal man. Too many people who call themselves Christians have
fallen into a haze of compromise where wrong begins to seem right. This is no
time to dabble in peripheral endeavors.
Stay close to the Lord and focus on both him and his word. Allow the Holy Spirit to have his way with
you so that you make godly decisions in all you do.
We have no idea when Christ will return, but the true
believer has nothing to fear. God will
reward those who maintain their faith throughout their life and trust him to
take them to their heavenly home. Until
next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
