Corinthians 10:13
New Living
Translation
“The temptations in
your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He
will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are
tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
The Corinthian church was made up of mostly Gentiles (or
non-Jews). Corinth was a major city and trade center, which offered idolatry
and immorality to any who would care to partake. Paul established this church on his 2nd
missionary trip to that region. Without
his presence, divisiveness and disorder crawled into the midst of their
congregation. The Corinthians had sent a letter to the Apostle with a list of
questions. Paul’s letter was meant to
deal quite directly with their queries.
There are choices that we make each day of our lives. The
choices we make stem from the condition of our heart. Are we living to please
our Heavenly Father or satisfy our own desires?
If you have been redeemed, then you are a new creation in Christ and are
called to live according to the Father’s standards as laid out in scripture.
It is extremely important, even critical that we live out
what we believe. To not do so is short
changing ourselves and disrespecting God’s grace. We must run from situations
and people that represent temptation to us. God’s Word is a road map for
life. Any question you have has an
answer in scripture. Any problem you face
has a solution in scripture. Reading the
Bible isn’t a chore that we have to do, but rather a privilege we get
to do. We’d think nothing of reading a
novel, but digging into God’s life changing word seems like drudgery. The Holy Spirit can ignite in us a hunger to
feed our spirit man. Ask him to begin that process today. Until next time, walk
with the King and be a blessing!
