Have you ever met anyone who seemed to think that if they were destined to go to hell that would be alright, because he or she and their friends would just party all the time? They might be the same people who say Christianity is for people who are weak and need a crutch to lean on. These are the people that live for themselves and pay no mind to any sort of god. Preachers are a joke to them, and life has become one carefree, spirited adventure.
Revelation 21:8 says the following about hell and those who shall go there: “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelation 20:15 says: “And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Man’s desire to live for himself and answer to no one will set them on a course for everlasting hell where there will be no parties. I’ve heard it preached that those in hell can smell Sulphur and feel scorching heat forever with no water to quench their parched lips. Demons will torment them day and night with no reprieve. It will be no party, that’s for sure.
As believers in Christ, we must ask God to see the lost the way HE sees them. We must also ask for a glimpse of hell. When I think of the unsaved, I picture in my mind’s eye someone walking on a high wire which is stretched across a bottomless, fiery abyss. Too often I have become consumed by my own issues to reach out with God’s forgiveness to lost souls. May God have mercy on me, may God have mercy on all of us. May we allow ourselves to be moved upon so as to boldly proclaim the gospel message to a lost and dying world. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing.
