The word “new” can have a wide variety of meanings. The meaning I’ve chosen for this writing is as follows: “markedly different from what was before”. Many things can be considered new. We are about to celebrate a “new” year. Because time never stands still and the world is interminably changing, chances are the new year will fit the above definition, for it will end up being markedly different from what was before.
In the spiritual realm where God resides, becoming “born again” is what scripture refers to as becoming a new creation ... “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” — II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV If you’ve accepted Christ into your life then you already know this.
People make personal resolutions at this time of year. Many of them end up attempting to stop some bad habit. Still others involve finances or their love life, but without Christ captaining your ship, your life will end up like a ship tossed about in an angry sea.
When you think about new things for the new year, try focusing on the spiritual aspect of your life. If you are born again, look to continue the maturation process that had begun in you. Let God transform you into something “markedly different from what was before”.
If you’re not yet born again, why are you hesitating? Reach out to God. Go on. He doesn’t bite. He loves you with a love that is so far greater than any other love that can be found this side of heaven. Some folks try just about anything to right their ship, yet never even entertain the prospect of an encounter with the Spiritual entity that created you. Seek His face. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you, then keep your ears and eyes fully open. Expect something to happen that you’ve not seen before. Place your trust in Almighty God...He’ll not let you down. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
In His name & for His glory,
Rich Keller
