Taking a Look at Isaiah

“Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in your presence!” “For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him.” – Isaiah 64:2, 4
Within the prayer for mercy and forgiveness, which began on verse 15 of the last chapter, lies a description of God’s power and majesty. It has been said that his appearance is so intense that it will be like an all-consuming fire that burns everything in its path. The only way believers, who are impure, can survive is because of God’s mercy and grace. We stand forgiven and no one can take that away from us. When Christ returns again his glory, which is a reflection of the Father, will be overwhelming to us. Were we not forgiven we wouldn’t be able to stand in his presence.
The Jews must come to the realization that God sees even their good deeds as filthy rags because of their rebellious nature. So they get on their knees and beg God for forgiveness and mercy … again. Fortunately when God forgives he doesn’t keep a count of wrongs. He looks at the heart. If it’s  sincere the request for forgiveness is honored.  Having said that, there are examples in scripture where people lied about something and before they ever had a chance to seek forgiveness they were struck dead. Would that still happen today? I have no idea, but I wouldn’t want to chance it.  Sin is sin and you will pay for it at one time or another unless the sin is removed.
There is no earthly way of knowing what wonderful blessings are in store for those who are waiting for him. Since the Lord knows the deepest motivations of our hearts, we can be assured that if our heart is pure and our motives are pleasing to God he will take good care of us as we work at living for him. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing! rlkeller
