THE EVERPRESENT GOD

Judges 6:14 (NIV) “The LORD turned to (Gideon) and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

Have you ever felt that you couldn’t go on? Has this “battle” called life … the “daily grind” worn you out? Gideon was faced with an entirely different type of situation when he was called to lead a band of men to rout the Midianites. His was a true battle. Ours is a battle against the forces of evil in our midst. Gideon lacked the confidence to do as God had asked him. We lack the confidence, many times, to do that which God requires of us as well. In a time when super hero movies abound and those with special powers riddle the cinematic screen, we oft times wish for their strength to combat life’s many trials. You have no idea how many times I have wished in my life that I could incinerate an antagonist or simply make them disappear. In the face of all this God looks us square in the eye and says “My child, go in the strength you have … am I not sending you?”

If we stop and consider Who it is that is making this statement and realize that He is the only one Who can change any situation with one word spoken from His Heavenly Throne, perhaps our strength would be restored. For that which God commissions us to do He is more than capable and willing to enable us to do. Omnipotent is not simply a title that God Almighty wears without a reason. The reason is simply that He IS All Powerful … there IS NOTHING He cannot do. If He sends us “into battle” it is not a mere mortal who is sending us … it is the Creator of the Universe.

You realize, of course, that this all comes down to an issue of faith and trust. If you have been reading these entries for a while you have seen a common thread woven throughout … faith and trust. The faith to believe in an unseen God and the trust to rely on Him to provide for and sustain us through any situation. And if He so desires and it is within His perfect will for you, He can and will change your situation for His own purposes and your ultimate benefit. God knows what He is doing. Most of the time we do not, even when we follow His directives. That is what faith and trust is all about … following the path God has laid before us, not knowing where it will lead, but trusting that if God, by His Holy Spirit, is our guide we will be safe. He never sends us out alone, but rather is with us as we go.

WALK WITH THE KING TODAY AND BE A BLESSING!!
