It’s interesting how disaster brings out the best in folks. People who normally mind their own business and simply live their lives, under certain circumstances, come out of their self-made cocoon and offer all sorts of help to those in need. This isn’t something that is solely done by the ‘religious’ people of the world. Some of the most hard core keep-to-themselfers step up to the plate and pitch in.
It’s a wonderful sight to see. In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, electric companies from Alabama, Ohio and Oklahoma found their way to the East Coast to help restore power (and those were just the states I personally saw). Neighbors who had never spoken to each other were sharing food, clothing and generators. Churches all up and down the coast are setting up distribution centers to dispense blankets, clothing items, toiletry items, water, non-perishable food items and more. It’s at a time like this that while government assistance is needed and appreciated, the locals fend for themselves just fine. It’s what I might call a ‘9-11 mentality’. When tragedy strikes, people rise up. It’s when the good in people shines forth and shows the world that mankind may not be inherently evil after all, but perhaps inherently good. It just needs to be jump started is all.
Walk with the King today and be a blessing!!
