“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of
the gospel of Christ.” Philippians 1:27
The Apostle Paul is writing this letter to the believers in
Philippi from prison where He was expecting the possibility of release or death. That’s why this verse starts with the phrase “whatever
happens”. Philippi was a city 8 miles
north of the port city of Neapolis. Not
only was it the first Christian mission in Europe, but a strategic city for the
launch of Christianity to Western civilization.
The Philippians, and by extension all believers to this very
day, are encouraged to live lives worthy of Christ. Jesus came and died to give us new life in
Him, not to live as we choose by making our own standard to follow. Everything we will ever need to know
regarding how to accomplish Paul’s statement can be found in scripture. That’s why it’s so important for us to become
familiar with all God has to say. Living
without consulting God’s word is like taking a long trip without consulting a
map or in this modern age, a GPS*. We
would undoubtedly get very lost.
God knows what we need and has laid out instructions for our
lives within the pages of the Bible.
Live a life that is worthy of the death Christ suffered for you. Don’t tread on His grace. God loves you and desires only the best for
you. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
