A Look at the Epistle of Jude

“Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” – Jude 3-4
The problem of wolves mingling with the sheep has been an age old problem. It happens today just as it did in Jude’s day. People can’t help tweaking the truth to make it more palatable for others. Is it really any different than when Satan asked Eve in the Garden of Eden, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” If you read chapter 3:1-7 you will get the whole picture, which included the big lie that took down man.
There are too many Christians who don’t know what they believe. They are easy prey to false teachers. It is why digging into God’s word is so very important. Know key doctrines so you don’t trip over a falsehood and end up following a wrong path.  The clock is ticking and we only have so much time to get this thing right. We need to be careful not to waste valuable time dabbling in half truths and outright lies about our faith.
False teachers had infiltrated the early church and Jude was cautioning the believers by reminding them whose they were and what the true gospel message was. God’s grace towards his children in no way “allows us to live immoral lives”. Never. We must understand that condemnation has been foretold and destruction will come quickly to those who deceive God’s children. Know the truth and live in it daily.  Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing! rlkeller
