EXERCISING YOUR FAITH

“Look at the proud!  They trust in themselves and their lives are crooked.  But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”   Habakkuk 2:4 NLT
Faith is a gift that is bestowed upon us by God Himself. The Holy Spirit that dwells within us when we are born again reminds us whose we are and who we are.  It’s standing on the promises God has given us in His word.  If God says He “will never leave us, nor forsake us”* it requires faith to not only believe that, but also to stand firm in the face of our adversary when trials occur.
Did you know that it is impossible to please God without faith?  “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.  (Hebrews 11:6)  It stands to reason that you would have to have a small amount of faith just to believe in God to begin with. According to Martin Luther King Jr., “faith is like taking the first step without seeing the whole staircase.” Faith believes that things will happen even though they have yet to happen. Faith believes that God is in control.  The Lord is perfect and never fails according to His word.  Since God cannot fail He will do that which He says He will do in His perfect time and in His perfect way.  Our responsibility is to always trust Him and believe.
Faith and trust are the main pillars of our belief system.  Faith and trust give birth to hope and hope is vital to believers.  Having no hope breeds despair and ultimate defeat. But we have no reason to lose hope.  The devil is a defeated foe.  Exercise your faith, trust in God and allow His presence in your life give you hope for tomorrow, regardless of your circumstances.  While things could be better, they could always be so much worse.  Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
