“Be
strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD
your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake
you.” Deuteronomy
31:6
I believe you will agree that some of the most
encouraging words in all of Scripture are the words found in the above verse. What does it mean to forsake someone? “To
give up (something formerly held dear); renounce; to leave altogether;
abandon.” You may plug in the common phrase “You’re on your own now”; however, this
is not what God is saying. He will never
abandon, nor forsake you. You are never alone because God’s Holy Spirit dwells
in you.
The Bible speaks of your enemy as “your adversary (who) walks about like a
roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8; NKJV) What it does not say is that in reality he is a
toothless lion, for he can do nothing that God does not allow for His own
purposes.
Having a personal relationship with the
Lord means we have absolutely nothing to fear. Because of who God is we have
every reason to be strong and courageous. This is because God goes with you wherever you
go. Dwell on that fact. Embrace the truth and then proceed to live it. Knowing
the word of God isn’t good enough. Your enemy knows God’s Word but only to use
it against us. To put in super hero vernacular, not trusting God to see you thru
each of life’s “situations” is like having super powers and not using them. Of
course, it is impossible to equate God and all that He is to a mere super hero,
but I believe you understand the comparison.
Take courage this day; nothing can harm
you and you have nothing to fear. God says so and He ought to know. He rules and reigns over all things … even
your enemies. Until next time, walk with
the King and be a blessing!
