“Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.” Psalm 37:5
To commit
is to put someone in charge; to entrust; to hand over, as for safekeeping. Commitment
can be difficult at times. It involves trust and reliance. We hesitate based on past issues we’ve
encountered due to failed commitments we’ve made. In the case of committing to God, we are
entrusting Him with our lives. We are making
a conscience choice to allow the Lord to guide and direct us.
We can divorce ourselves from the
directives of God. We either decide that
God’s way is too hard or that our way is more beneficial to us. Godly living
can be a wonderful blessing, but our impudence and shortsightedness can short
circuit those blessings.
God has only good things in store for us; that thing that bring us the biggest
benefit and Him the greatest glory. When
we think we know better than God we need to reread Proverbs 3:5-7, which tells us the following: “Trust in the Lord with
all your heart; do not depend on your own
understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path
to take.”
We serve a loving, patient, forgiving God
who sees us wherever we go and knows we have a tendency towards doing that
which we desire, rather than that
which He desires for us. Once it has become obvious that we’ve made a
mistake, learn from those mistakes. Commit
your life and your way to the Lord … trust
in Him for all things and He will make your righteousness shine like the
noonday sun. Until next time, walk with
the King and be a blessing!
