Psalm 90:1-2, 4 New Living Translation
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. “Lord, through all the generations you have been
our home! Before
the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning
to end, you are God. For you, a
thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.”
Believing in something or in the case of
Almighty God someone we cannot see is difficult enough. Then we are asked to stretch our minds to the
point where we can accept that God has no beginning and no end, He just is. A spirit being that was in existence before
time began. Now we are a people that
sign up for ancestry.com to find out all the particulars about our family’s
past, so accepting things without factual, physical proof goes against the
grain of who we are. We find that we
must put our searchlights down, turn them off and engage our faith; for that is
the only way we could ever attain the truth regarding our Heavenly Father.
Once we’ve come to the place where we
can accept that God was and is and always will be, we are confronted with verse
4, which reveals to us that God is completely unrestricted by time. Think of it; 1000 years are as a day. Our system of time means nothing to the
Lord. He knows what He is doing
corporately and individually. He timing
is impeccable, perfect in every way. It
is we who lose faith, not God, for He knows what we need, when we need it.
The great Corrie Ten Boom, Christian
holocaust survivor, told the story about her family needing a train ticket to
take a trip. She asked her father when they would be getting their ticket. He explained that they wouldn’t be getting it
now, for they didn’t need it now. When
they needed it they would purchase it.
Ten Boom then likened that story to the way God operates. We don’t receive what we seek when we
think the time is right, but when God knows we need it the most. Rest in the comfort of God’s mighty hands and
know that He is and that He will do all that is necessary to bless you
beyond measure when He knows you need it.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
