Ephesians 3:16-19 New Living
Translation
“I
pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner
strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as
you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you
strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should,
how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the
love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be
made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
In the
face of all the hate and anger we see in the world today, it’s refreshing to
know that the love Christ places in our hearts can conquer all. Love is a
mighty weapon in and of itself. Love leads to acceptance, which leads to
compromise, which in turn gives birth to peace and harmony. It isn’t always
possible, for both parties have to be of like mind to seek peace through loving
acceptance.
To see
a living example of God’s love for us all we need to do is focus our gaze upon
Christ on the cross. That is truly the most incredible and unbelievable
example of God’s mercy, love and grace that we will ever know. Nothing this
side of heaven can compare to it. God loves us! He loves us even when we are at
our most rebellious. God’s love is total in that it reaches every corner of our
life. There’s no formula you can use to decipher it. Such love is too great to
fully understand. It is only to be accepted, not figured out. He loves us
because he made us. He loves us because
he knows our very heart’s motivations. He loves us even when we stray. He will never stop loving us, ever.
Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians is quite
a bold prayer that we should embrace as our own. That in some form or fashion
we might be able to get a glimpse into the true depth of the love our Heavenly
Father has for us. That we might begin to understand that if we revere Him with
awe and seek to serve Him in obedience, we will feel that same love flowing
through us. If we allow it to change us we will not and frankly could not ever
be the same for we will then have a measure of the fullness of God dwelling
within us. Until next time, walk with
the King and be a blessing!
