Hebrews 10:36-37 New Living Translation
“Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will
continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. ‘For
in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.’”
When Christ returns in the clouds He will not touch down as with His
Second Coming, but rather we will be caught up with Him in the air to meet Him
(1 Thessalonians 4:17). Habakkuk 2:3 makes reference to the coming of Christ as
he tells believers of his day of ‘the revelation’ which ‘awaits an appointed time’; it goes on to say that it is
speaking of the end times. Believers are instructed to ‘wait for it’ for it will ‘come and will not delay’.
It’s been a long time since Christ ascended into the heavens, but as we wait
patiently for his return we should consider this: “… do not forget this one thing, dear
friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are
like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand
slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but
everyone to come to repentance.”
(2 Peter 3:8-9)
This passage tells us that time, as we know it, is meaningless to God.
He created time. Knowing this we are to trust Him that He is truly in complete
control of all things and has our best interests in mind. That requires
submission. Generally speaking, people don’t like being subservient to anyone,
let alone someone they cannot see, but that is what is required.
God
promised He would return for us and he always keeps his promises. Just because
we see no evidence of it with the naked eye doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Trust
in God to fulfill all He has planned from the beginning of the age. He shall do
it just as He has said. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
