THE POWER OF JESUS

“Now may the God of peace … equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.”
Hebrews 13:21-22
New Living Translation
The author’s prayer is to the Jewish believers who may have been considering returning to Judaism.  This prayer shines a light on the fact that God is the one who equips us for every good work.  We are not good, not even close.  Jesus even said, “Why do you call me good? Only God is truly good.”(Mark 10:18) If left to our own devices we would choose the easy, less hilly path; however, it is the Lord who knows what is best for us. Once we fully realize that we will be much more at ease allowing the Spirit of God take the lead in our lives.
God’s will is what we should be striving to accomplish in our lives. Our will is many times a polar opposite to God’s. Our best chance of pleasing the Lord with our lives is to follow the standards set by him in his Word.
The power of Jesus Christ spoken of here is the same power that raised him from the grave. That’s life-giving power! Jesus was dead. He was placed in a tomb, as would be one who had ceased living. According to God’s eternal plan Christ rose from the dead and was made alive again. And he still lives, seated at the right hand of Almighty God. That is the power that this prayer is speaking of. Life giving, life changing power to be all God knows we can be. Anything less is a mere shadow of what could be. Surrender to God’s will for you. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
