“Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the
name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught
you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:1 New
Living Translation
Living in a way that pleases God should be
the normal desire of believers; however, we do tend to become complacent at
times. Galatians 6:9 admonishes us not to become ‘weary of doing good things’.
It can happen when the circumstances that surround us begin to overwhelm us and
we forget who is in charge of the wind and the waves.
Paul acknowledges that the Thessalonicans
have been living lives that please God, but they must push forward with greater
vigilance and determination. It is always a good thing to continue to grow in
Christ, otherwise our spirit man will languish and become good for nothing.
Reach for greater spiritual heights. Don’t
allow the devil to steal your joy. Rejoice in what you have rather than
mulligrub about what you don’t have. God will provide all your needs. Trust
God. Trusting promotes godly living. If you didn’t trust him you wouldn’t
choose to live according to his statutes. Pleasing the Lord needs to be our
sole ambition. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
