Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? – Mark 9:50
Christians are special and should live lives that are distinctive compared to the world. We are called to hold on tight to our uniqueness in Christ and never lose it. A piece of silver, when not cared for, will tarnish and lose its luster; but, when polished it becomes a reflective beacon of the light that surrounds it. Without our faith, which breeds trust, reliance, peace and hope, we would appear to be bland and dull. When we strive to live lives that are pleasing to God we are, in essence, polishing our spirit. As we do we shall reflect His glory, grace, mercy and compassion to a lost and dying world. Be a genuine and consistent example of what life can be with God leading the way. Allow people to see that forgiveness is necessary and within reach. Be salt to those around you for the sake of Christ. Let them see in you something that they are drawn to. Let it be real and not pretentious, for without Christ we can truly do nothing of any eternal value (John 15:5). Let humility rule your life just as it did in the life of Christ.
