GOD: OUR REFUGE

Psalm 59:16-17 New Living Translation
“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.”
This is a Psalm written by David at a time when Saul sent soldiers to kill him.  The majority of the Psalm describes his enemies. The last two verses speak of God’s power and unfailing love.  God’s love and favor are a refuge of protection against those who would harm us.  Like David, we should take negative circumstances and make them a reason for praise.  In spite of our circumstances God has not failed us.  He is our place of safety when difficulties arise.  He is our peace-giver when all hope seems lost.  He is our deliverer when it seems we are pinned in a corner. God will not fail us.
We were created to worship Almighty God; however, we were given a free will to choose what we will believe in and worship. That freedom has been the downfall of millions, yet God still loves us all.  He desires that we come to him of our own volition, not as some sort of requirement. As Paul says twice to the Corinthian church, all things are permissible, but not all things are constructive or beneficial.* God knows what is best for us, because he created us.
Anytime you feel alone or pressed on every side, realize that the Lord is your place of safety. It is a place where peace reigns and comfort is available in good measure. This place of safety is impenetrable due to God’s power. You can rely on God to see you thru any situation for he is all places at all times and is all powerful, meaning nothing can defeat him.  Live for Christ by imitating him daily. Walk with the King and be a blessing!
