“For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not
to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that,
whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him
forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are
already doing.” –
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
New Living Translation
The believers at Thessalonica were in need
of encouragement regarding Christ’s return. Paul encourages the believers that
if redeemed we shall be with the Lord forever. This is wonderful news! We
should, as the body of Christ, encourage & edify one another with this
news.
At times we become weary of the trials
this life brings. We must continually remind ourselves that our lives are a
mere speck of sand on the beach of eternity. Whatever we are going thru will
pass. Living with God forever is the great reward we seek. The world seeks
material treasures that, no matter how well they are maintained, will one day
crumble to dust. The believer has forgiveness for all the wrong they had ever
done & a promise of eternity with their creator & that far surpasses anything
this world has to offer.
Believers are all on equal standing with
the Lord. So encourage one another regarding Christ’s return & continue
doing the Master’s work. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
