THE LOVE OF GOD

“…may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.” 

Ephesians 3:18 New Living Translation

     There’s nothing this side of heaven that can match the love God has for you. If you’ve read the Bible at all you would come across a myriad of verses that say things like “For God so loved the world that he gave …”^[1] or “… nothing can separate us from the love of God …”^[2] or “God shows us his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”^[3] Nothing we could ever think, say or do could ever sever the love God has for us. We are his children and he is our Heavenly Father.

     I believe the mention of the dimensions of God’s love signifies it’s infinite and eternal nature. It’s wider then the widest ocean, longer than the distance to the furthest uncharted stars and planets, higher then the sky above us and deeper then the deepest abyss beneath us.

     God gave us an example of how to express love. He didn’t say it with words, but with actions. He became mortal man and lived among us. He showed us how to treat others and how to be selfless. Then he went thru a torturous ordeal for you and me, an ordeal that led to his death. That is how he showed us how much he loved us. Meditate on the infinite nature of God’s love for you. He doesn’t see you the way YOU see you. He sees you for what you can be in his name. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
