OUR COMMITMENT TO CHRIST

“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” - Colossians 2:6-7 New Living Translation
The congregation in Colossae had already accepted Christ as Lord. Paul’s letter was meant to correct errors in the church’s teaching.  To live faithfully for God we must commit our life to Christ and submit to his will. We must have a hunger to know him and learn from his teachings. We must recognize the power of the Holy Spirit that is within us. It’s what the Colossians had to do and it’s what today’s Christians must do as well if they want to be an effective representative of our Lord.
As we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ our faith and trust will expand. The truth, which we should accept without hesitation, is what we must built our lives on. That is the impenetrable foundation that we can build upon. The winds and storms of life may destroy that which we have built but the foundation shall forever stand as a testament to the greatness of God.
It is with thankful hearts that we are to serve the Lord, recognizing that without his presence in our lives we are doomed to spend all eternity separated from him.  What a tragic thought. We must tap into his spirit to become all he desires us to be in this life. God wants us all to succeed, not as the world sees success, but in his eyes, for it is God whom we must please, not man. Side step the world and embrace Christ. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
