Isaiah at a glance - The Prophecies (3)

Isaiah

The Prophecies (3)

This is the final installment of the Messianic prophecies revealed in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 53:6, 8 - “All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.” ... “Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.”

It’s fulfillment: Romans 5:6, 8 - “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” ... “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 - “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

Isaiah 3:7-8 “He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.”

It’s fulfillment: John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” Romans 6:10 - “When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

Isaiah 53:7a “He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word.”

It’s fulfillment: Luke 23:9 “(Herod) asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer.”

God had a plan. His Son most assuredly knew that plan. He knew what was required of Him. He knew He would need to endure pain from brutal beatings. He knew His own blood would be spilled. The pure blood of a sinless, innocent man. The only blood that could remove sin ... ALL sin, for anyone who would seek His forgiveness. You see, Jesus knew who He was and knew what His power was capable of doing, yet He held back, said nothing, and allowed God’s plan to play out to its inevitable conclusion. Reject this free gift and there is no hope for you. Accept it and your life will shift from the road you were on to a new road that leads to heaven. God’s plan. He knows what He’s doing. We just need to trust and obey. Rk

This completes the prophecies and their NT fulfillment regarding the coming Messiah. Our next stop is the book of Jeremiah the prophet. Until then, walk with the King and be a blessing.
