“And it is impossible to
please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God
exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
NLT
Faith believes in things unseen as if
they could be seen. It’s placing your trust in something or someone based on a
promise of things to come. In our case
it believes in the existence of God and trusts that He will do all that He has
said in His word He will do. Paul speaks of a reward in today’s verse and this is
of course the forgiveness of sin, the restoring of our soul, the bridging of
the gap that sin caused between creation and creator.
In our daily walk with the Lord there
comes a time when our purpose in this life comes into question. As Christians our purpose is, as Paul puts it in his 2nd letter to the
believers in Thessalonica, “to please God, not people. He alone examines the
motives of our hearts.”
(2 Thessalonians
2:4b) If we are to please God, then
besides having faith, we are to live out that faith each day so that people see
a difference between the way we handle obstacles compared to the world. And that is what our trials become, nothing
more than obstacles to go around or climb over.
Since scripture is clear that the
deepest motivations of our heart are laid bare before God, it is important for
us to keep a clean, pure heart with the help of the Holy Spirit. Ask God to purge out of you those things that
are displeasing to Him and allow His Spirit to guide you along the way. All things are meant to instruct, not destroy,
so learn what is required of you and live in peace. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
