“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a
Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to
bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that
they will be like his glorious body.” Philippians
3:20
In 1 Peter 2:11, the apostle refers to believers as "temporary residents and
foreigners" in the New Living Translation and that’s exactly what we
are. We are alien to the ways of the
world once we are redeemed. We have no
business dabbling in that way of life any longer. People are to see a difference in the way we speak,
act and react to that which takes place in our lives. We are now considered
citizens of heaven; we just haven’t arrived there yet.
Our
responsibility is to intermingle with those in need of forgiveness and show
them the way. This can be difficult when much of the time we are struggling to
find our own way. All the more reason to
rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to guide and advise. One day when Christ returns for His church we
will be transformed into imperishable and glorious bodies that will never
die. Until that time we are to do the
work of God in the midst of our daily routines.
Some of us go to school, so to work, but all are in contact with those
who need a savior.
I find it difficult to broach the subject with people off the cuff, but I have been asking the Lord to open doors of opportunity so that I can share my testimony if nothing else. Living our faith in front of others speaks far louder than words though, so at least we can live out what we believe and pray that people notice something different about us. Then our job is to be ready to share the hope that is within us (1 Peter 3:15). Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
