“In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”-Psalm 56:4 NIV
“Then the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.’ ‘Does Job fear God for nothing?’ Satan replied. ‘Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.’ The Lord said to Satan, ‘Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.’ Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.”- Job 1:8-12 NIV
There are some basic things that a believer needs to digest and understand. One is that God is the Creator of all things … ALL things. Meaning that there is nothing greater than Him … NOTHING. If you are able to fully understand this basic truth, then the second “thing” becomes easier to understand. As depicted in Job, there is nothing your enemy can do to you without God allowing it … NOTHING. When God tells us throughout scripture to “Fear not … “, He is saying this to us with the above facts in mind. It’s like He’s saying to us:“I have created everything you see and everything you cannot see … there is nothing that has been created that I did not create. Nothing happens within my creation that I have not caused or allowed to take place. Therefore, you have absolutely nothing to fear for I am with you all the time in the person of my Holy Spirit and will keep you from harm.”
God has foreordained all that HAS taken place, all that IS taking place now and all that WILL take place in the future. To say it’s not so would mean that God isn’t in ultimate control of His own Creation. 1) That doesn’t make any sense and 2) that would be a lie.
Man wears himself out seeking ways to get what he wants as if there were no God at all. The scripture addresses this in Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25 (NIV)where both say, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Many times the creation thinks itself more intelligent and pragmatic then the Creator Himself. This stems from the simple notion that man does not want to be rules over by anyone, but rather be free to do as they please. Understand this, God’s path is the only way to heaven. Belief in anything else is a pathway to destruction. Trust in God; fear no one but Him (fear as in revere with awe); seek His wisdom and guidance; follow wherever He leads, for to do anything else is accepting something less than the best. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing! rlkeller
