Ephesians
6:14-17 New International Version
“Stand firm
then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes
from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
“The
helmet forms the first line of defense of the head against false doctrines. It protects the understanding from being
darkened, and the judgment from being confused
by any temptations or subtle arguments of Satan.”[1]
Our
minds must be protected. What we feed into our minds can have a devastating
effect on our thoughts and as a consequence, our actions if we are not careful.
The devil wants us to fail. He cares nothing for us. He strives to draw people,
both saved and unsaved, down to hell for all eternity with him. God doesn’t
want that for us, but has given each of us a free will to choose that which we
believe and as a result, what we think, say and do. We must understand that
Satan is already defeated. He’s real and seeks to neutralize you from having
any positive effect on the world with your talk of Jesus. He seeks to upset the
apple cart, so to speak.
If
we feed our mind that which is truthful, positive and godly in nature then we
will develop our spirit man and be able to shrug off the devils attacks. Each
piece of armor is equally important for if one area is left unprotected it
could cause the whole man to crash and burn. The helmet is key. Protect your
mind. Be discerning as to what you take in. It can be subtle and before you
know it you are way off the chosen path. Wear all your armor daily. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
