“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your
words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” - Ephesians 4:29 New Living Translation
It is
so easy to become mired in the muck of this world. Our greatest intentions are
easily overshadowed by ugly talk and unkind actions. Thinking unkind thoughts
is bad enough for a believer, but when we allow them to come into full bloom,
that becomes sin. Paul tells the Ephesians to be careful how they treat others
thru what they say. That applies to modern day believers as well. Once said, we
cannot retrieve that which we regret saying. There is no delete key in life.
Talking is a key way to communicate with others. It’s also a way to
offend or insult others. The closer we come to the Lord the more we will begin
to think and act like him. That is the key, to fill our minds with godly
things, not worldly things. It’s not that you aren’t allowed to participate in
worldly endeavors, you just shouldn’t make them the focal point of our lives to
the exclusion of time with God.
If
some of us spent the same amount of time with our spouse as we do with the Lord
we would probably end up in divorce court. Seek his face daily.
Strive to become selfless. Seek to be an
encourager, building others up rather then tearing them down. Be a help and not
a hindrance. It’s what God calls us to do. Until next time, walk with the King
and be a blessing!
