“I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” - Psalm 121:1-2 New Living Translation
Psalms
120-134 are called either “pilgrim psalms” or “songs of ascent”. Jerusalem was
in the hill country and the temple was located on a hill called Zion. Those
ascending to the Temple for annual festivals sang these psalms. We no longer
climb a hill to worship God, but our lives may seem like we are climbing a very
steep incline at times. It is at those times that we should remember to whom we
serve and who we are to him.
We are
created by the Lord in our mother’s womb and exist for his good pleasure. Our
lives do not need to be a constant struggle. We can tap into his infinite
resources to maintain stability. We will be tossed and turned by the winds of
circumstances throughout our lives, but it need not shake our faith. God brings
trials to strengthen us, so as long as we continue to trust in him we will be
able to take on any obstacle and be victorious. There will be trying times that
come at us full force but nothing can defeat us if we stay strong and don’t
allow our faith to waver.
If God
can create everything we see, he can carry us thru any difficulties we may
encounter. Trust and do not let it falter. God will see you thru to the very
end and though it may not seem like it at the time, his hand of protection is
on you and you will survive. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
