This is what
the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am
the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and
leads you along the paths you should follow.” – Isaiah 48:17 New Living Translation
The Jewish people
of the Old Testament were a “stiff necked and rebellious” people. So said
Stephen in his sermon just prior to his being stoned to death in Acts 7:51-53
by the very Jewish leaders to which he spoke. It is not good enough to merely
sacrifice without obedience as the Jews had done down thru the ages. This is a
worthless endeavor. It is in our following the directives of God that we find
peace and righteousness.
When it
comes to God, you are either all in or all out. There is no middle ground. It is useless to say you believe in God if you
don’t allow that belief to change your life. The change I am speaking of is not
orchestrated by you, but by your willingness to submit to the leadership of
Almighty God. He created you and knows you better than you could ever know
yourself. He wishes to teach you what is good for you, yet you resist, wanting
instead to handle things for yourself.
No navigational
device can help you choose the right path to take without the help of the Holy
Spirit who resides within every believer. Don’t be so stubborn that you feel
you know all about what you are to do, because things change so rapidly in this
life that you can’t possibly know without the Lord’s guidance. Rely on his
Spirit and not on your own intuitive nature; that is a recipe for disaster.
Study his word, for within its pages is absolute and eternal truth. Be God’s
hand extended and trust him to lead you like a light thru this dark,
sin-riddled world. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
