Thoughts From a Random Mind

JUDGING OTHERS
I think where many Christians go wrong is that we look at the exterior of others & see what we consider to be bad or unhealthy behavior & we judge them, many times verbalizing that judgement. We say things like: “You shouldn’t gossip”,” You shouldn’t smoke”, “You shouldn’t live with someone outside of marriage”, “You shouldn’t drink or do drugs or have illicit sex with strangers” … Reflect on your life prior to your conversion. What were you like? How did you speak to or treat others? We are very quick to judge & there in lies a serious problem for Christians. We haven’t been called by God to judge others.  We are viewed as judgmental people who are hypocrites by the world. In my estimation speaking to others about Christ shouldn’t come with criticism. How did Christ look upon you prior to salvation? If all were judged by God for our thoughts, words and/or actions who on earth could stand? We all, myself included, need to ask the Lord to help us see others the way God does. Perhaps then we will begin to stop judging others. It’s not their gossiping or smoking or drinking or any other thing that they do that will keep them separated from God. It’s their rejection of Christ. They may not verbalize their rejection, but as the saying goes “actions speak louder than words”. If someone lives a selfish lifestyle that leaves no room for the Lord, they have rejected Christ. By the same token, if a believer lives a lifestyle that leaves no room to spiritual growth they are taking God’s grace severely for granted.  Before we speak to others we should examine ourselves to see if we measure up to Christ. We are no better or worse than anyone else … we are simply forgiven. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
