REDIRECT YOUR FOCUS

Romans 12:12 (TNIV) “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Faith and trust in God gives birth to hope; patience comes with spiritual maturity and prayer is for our benefit and not God’s. That is a mouthful, but I believe each statement to be absolutely true. As we grow closer to God we learn more about Him and that leads to trust based on faith. All we begin to realize about Him provides that light at the end of the tunnel which isn’t always an oncoming train; it is hope. We can have joy and learn to be patient in the midst of anything if we understand who is truly in control of all things, all the time. Our prayers are the verbalization of our faith as we lift them up to the Almighty Jehovah God. He already knows everything about us, so our prayers can’t be for His benefit … it must be for ours. Why? Because we are in need of the encouragement an answer provides, not God.

You see, no matter what situation you may find yourself, you CAN be joyful, exhibit patience and pray faithfully for resolution if you know who God is and who you are to Him. You are His child. He loves you and wishes no harm to come to you. Whenever you find yourself in a difficult spot, know that God isn’t doing anything TO you but rather FOR you as He teaches you how to deal with circumstances that come your way as a true ambassador of Christ. You can do it if you focus on Him instead of your troubles.
