“… For all that is in heaven
and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as
head over all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11b
While the writer of Chronicles is
uncertain, the topic is not. He spends
most of his time speaking of God’s promise to David and the greatness of the
Lord. Here we find the confirmation that
all things belong to Almighty God. Even though Satan has been relegated to this
earth, cast out of heaven due to his gross disobedience, God still controls
him. For the Christian, there is nothing
Satan can do that has not been allowed by the Lord. We should take comfort in that fact. There is in fact nothing that God does not
either cause or allow to take place in all of creation. Many things make no sense to us; however, God
has reasons and purposes that are far above our ability to comprehend. At times He seems unjust or even cruel, but
God is God and our understanding of His actions, frankly, is irrelevant. Our part in all this is to have unwavering
faith and trust that He is doing what is right, just and necessary for the advancement
of His kingdom.
The end of this world is inevitable,
as revealed in scripture. A new world is
coming that will be ruled and reigned over by Christ. Man’s ability to govern himself has failed. We are a self-centered, self-absorbed lot who
seek pleasure over pain and the easy path over the difficult one. Once a part of God’s family that should
change. It’s not that we seek pain and
difficulty, but at times it is the route God takes us. Instead of throwing up our hands in disgust
and concluding that God either doesn’t care or is unfair, we are to grow up
spiritually by virtue of life’s tests.
The Lord places obstacles in our path as a means of testing our faith
and our fortitude. Will we fold or will
we find a way by tapping into the Holy Spirit within us to conquer the obstacle
and move forward? The decision is
yours. Until Christ returns, walk with
the King and be a blessing!
