“Whoever dwells in the
shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
Scholars have concluded that Moses, while in the wilderness,
wrote this Psalm and the nine that follow.
With all the trials and tribulations that the children of Israel faced
in their 40-year trek through the wilderness, it would seem logical that they
would need to find rest in their God. It is with this backdrop that we are told
whoever draws near to God shall find protection under His mighty wing. No harm shall befall those who rest in the
shadow of the Almighty and place their trust in Him and Him only.
The same is true today.
There is nothing that can come against a child of God that cannot be
overcome. God alone is the One who can
provide all that is needed to withstand the onslaught of doubt and fear that
accompanies the many trials we encounter.
Finding rest and the peace that comes with it is a blessing unrivaled by
the world, for this world and everything in it is temporal. The things of God are eternal.
This is why we must have unwavering faith and trust in
God. The problems of this world fade
from sight when compared to the glory and majesty that is found in just His
name alone. The name of Jesus is the
sweetest sound one could ever hear in this life. The One that bears that name has saved us
from our sins. Jesus is God in human
form. There is no other name in heaven,
on earth or under the earth by which men can find forgiveness. Our rest is available any time we choose to acquire
it. Kneel before the Lord and find
peace. Until Christ returns, walk with the King and be a blessing!
