“The
very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever.” Psalm 119:160
What is truth?
As defined, it is the ultimate
ground of reality, both faithful and
constant. Is there anything that is
true at all times? The only constant in
the world is change. It is in a constant
state of flux, ever moving, ever modifying, never the same. The only constant I have found in this
continuously changing world we live in is God and His standards. They have stood the test of time and continue
to remain true to this day. Change can
bring a certain sense of instability; especially when it’s continuous and
relentless. Real truth is the bedrock on
which we can successfully build our lives and as a result find stability,
fulfillment and peace.
According to the great evangelist and
preacher Charles Spurgeon, “God's word
has been true from the first moment in which it was spoken, true throughout the
whole of history, true to us from the instant in which we believed it, and true
to us before we were true to it.” American author Maxwell Anderson has been
quoted as saying, “Truth’s like a fire,
and will burn through and be seen.” There is
a burning quality about God’s truth, for it will burn deep into the soul of a
man causing him grief until he responds to it’s call.
French philosopher and author Albert
Camus once said, “Truth, like light,
blinds.” Like Saul of Tarsus on the
road to Damascus, men too can be blinded by the truth that is the light of God. For the believer, the truth of God can be
many things. It can be an instrument of
hope and encouragement or it can also be a weapon to ward off evil. This multi-faceted tool is at our disposal,
for God has never concealed it from any of us.
It is in the seeking of it that we find it freely and clearly to
establish or in some cases, reestablish our firm foundation for living. God is truth.
Even though it can be difficult to wrap our minds around that,
understanding is not necessarily required.
Faith, belief and trust are.
Embrace God for the truth He represents and live accordingly. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
