FOLLOWING THE SPIRIT’S LEAD

Galatians 5:16 New Living Translation
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
By what standard do you live your life?  As believers in the One true & everlasting God we should have a Godly standard, set by God himself & led by the Holy Spirit.  No longer are we to do as we please.  We have been bought with a hefty price. Our focus is supposed to shift off of self & onto Christ.  What is your most heartfelt desire?  Is it to please your Heavenly Father? Then you ought to desire the qualities laid out in verses 22 & 23 of this same chapter. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
We cannot know the right thing to do at all times, which is precisely why we’ve been given the Holy Spirit to lead & guide us thru the winding turns that life provides.  This is a special gift that God has afforded us; however, we must utilize it.  Do not turn a deaf ear to his instruction. We must stay plugged into the things of God.  Sinful desires are strong.  Let’s face it; sin is fun, at least on the surface & for a time.  If it were not no one would engage in sinful practices.  The truth of the matter is that the satisfaction sin brings is temporal, fading quickly.  The only lasting satisfaction & fulfillment comes by surrendering your will to the One who made you & doing for others.
Trying to live a Christian life without the Lord’s help is like attempting to travel cross-country without any navigational assistance.  It is extremely difficult, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Let your main focus remain on behavioral practices that are pleasing to the Lord. If you do that you will be blessed & supremely fulfilled.  Until next time, walk with the King & be a blessing!
