Ephesians 6:13 New Living Translation
“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
Paul is covering no new ground here in verse 13. He is reiterating the necessity to put on not part of the armor, but each and every piece of God’s armor. The reasoning behind that is it will give you the ability to resist whatever the enemy throws at you. The one idea that is new is not just that you will be standing firm but when you will be standing firm. After the battle you will still be standing firm.
This is encouraging news to the believer in Paul’s day and also in modern day America. God has an abundance of examples throughout scripture where he has come thru for his spiritual children. As a matter of fact there happens to be no record of any failure on God’s part in the entirety of scripture. We can trust the Lord without hesitation because he has a positive track record. He is no respecter of persons so what he has done in the past he still does today and will do for you.
This world is overrun with temptations to tickle our fancy, so it is increasingly difficult to maintain self-control in the face of it, but there is no profit in giving in to that which we know we should not do. Tomorrow we will begin to get specific regarding God’s armor so strap yourself in for the ride. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
