Titus 3:9-11
In these several verses Paul is telling Titus not to mix words with those who involve themselves with foolish talk. With all the false teaching being spread in the churches at that time, it stands to reason that Paul is referring to these false teachers as the ones to not get involved with. Nothing good can come from useless talk, for it will nearly always lead nowhere. False teachers are convinced they are correct in their dissection of scripture, though they insist on injecting Jewish Law into a mix with Godly grace. Once Christ died there was a progression from the Age of the Law to the Age of Grace. To this day the Jews await their Messiah, still trying and failing to live the Mosaic Law. Their rejection of Christ as Messiah was necessary to be able to bring salvation to Gentiles.
Paul makes a point of telling Titus that if anyone comes in their midst with the sole purpose to create divisions within the body, they should be warned twice, then on the 3rdtransgression have nothing more to do with them. That may sound harsh but it’s like this: if you had a small malignant tumor in your body and decided to do nothing, it won’t go away on it’s own. It will grow to become a much bigger problem. False teachers, if left unchecked, will continue to produce strife that will never be eradicated without complete removal. Otherwise, spiritual stagnation and/or eventual spiritual death can occur.
We live in seriously dangerous times. Don’t be fooled by what you see with the naked eye. Seek to see what God sees and move forward accordingly. Know God’s word so as not to be fooled by false doctrine. Live to be a blessing in Christ’s name. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
