Paul's Letter to Titus

Titus 3:7-8
Christ’s death on the cross ushered in the Age of Grace which saw the door to salvation opened to the Gentiles (all non-Jewish people).  God’s grace is his unmerited or undeserved favor. We could never earn such a prize. It was freely given to us by God as part of his plan to save mankind. Not only have we been forgiven of all our sins, but have been assured of eternal life with him.
Paul earmarks this as a trustworthy statement that should be the impetus for doing good.  Doing good is not by our own definition but rather by that which has been laid out in scripture. He ends verse 8 with a universal statement of sorts by saying that which has been shared in vv. 4-7 is not only a good teaching point but “beneficial for everyone”
Therein lies how these verses benefit those believers today. It has been said repeatedly that the right thing for any believer to do is know the teachings of Christ and live by them, making a supreme effort to be a reflection of our Lord. It is not enough to simply believe, and then go back into your hole of safety like some sort of mole.  We live in this world and we must live out our faith in it and in spite of it. Do so with the continual assistance of the Holy Spirit. As a word of caution, don’t just say you are a Christian, show in the way you live so you never have to tell someone your are a believer, they will know it by what they can see with their own two eyes. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing.
