“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” - Isaiah 55:6-7
Isaiah 55 is an invitation to salvation. It starts out by saying “All you who are thirsty, come to the waters …”. The water the Lord provides is ‘living’ water. Verse 6 implies that there will come a day when God may NOT be found, for the day of the Lord will have come and just as the door of the Ark closed, so will the door of time and space will close. It will then be too late to receive forgiveness for the sinful, unholy life you have lived.
Believing in God is not enough. That belief must cause a change in you that the Holy Spirit initiates upon request. You must want to change. The Lord does nothing forcibly, but with your consent. If you’ve not entered into a personal, intimate relationship with your Creator, now is the time, for we are not promised tomorrow. (James 4:14)
Chapter 55 instructs all its’ readers to FORSAKE all wicked things and all unrighteous attitudes, fully realizing nothing we’ve done or ever will do would make us worthy of His pardon. And that’s what GRACE is; an undeserved pardon. Pursue God as you would a pot of gold coins or a lavish meal. Strive toward Him. No matter how long you may have known the Lord, continue to pursue greater things from God. Do not become complacent. Reach out to God daily and seek something new from Him. Work at becoming more like Christ each and every day. It is imperative that we draw as close to the Lord as humanly possible, especially in these trying and difficult times. God loves you with an everlasting love. You are of great value to Him. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
