RUN THE RACE

Hebrews 12:1-2a (TNIV) “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

          When I think of throwing off that which hinders me, I think of being covered in one of those big goose down comforters. We need to simply heave it off us. Those things can be heavy if you’ve ever had one, but it is no match for the power of Christ. We need to FIX our eyes on Christ. Our faith is in Him and not in those things that attempt to trip us up. Satan can be relentless, but in reality is a toothless lion who has no hold on us.
          If we focus on the One who saves rather than that which hinders we will be much better off; in fact, we will be victorious in all that we do. The sins that entangle us are from our own doing. We entertain thoughts or see things that are contrary to the things of God and we find ourselves sprawled out face first in the muck. Shake yourself loose of such things and refocus on Christ, the only One who heals and gives hope.
