Would we ever truly know what real love was without the example Christ set for us? I don't believe we would. Scripture tells us that dying for a good man is difficult enough, but to be God and come down to earth in human form to show the world how much You loved them by dying in such a gruesome fashion is pretty unbelievable. People may say "I never asked anyone to die for me." Well He didn't do it so people would feel obligated in any way. He did it because He created us and in creating us, loved us. When we went astray He had a plan to save us from ourselves put in place.
So you see, Easter really isn't about bunnies and candy, but rather a celebration of Christ risen from the grave. A grave He voluntarily ended up in to save us from ourselves. Redemption. The paying of a sin debt. God did that for us all. You either believe it or you don't; but you can. Angels rejoice in heaven when one soul comes to the realization that his sins can be erased as if he had never committed them. What a joyful day that is when we finally receive Christ in our hearts and allow our lives to be changed forever. Yes, what a glorious day that is indeed.
