“The temptations in your life are
no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not
allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he
will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Temptations
abound in this life. If you are plugged
into the spirit of God you can win against these temptations. If you’re not then you could be in for a heap
of trouble. The nature of a temptation
is that it tugs at you in an area that you are weak. If you dwell on the temptation and let
yourself become fixated by it then you will succumb to it and venture down a
path you may have never intended to go.
God does provide escape
routes, but what if you ignore them?
That is a very real thing. You
tell yourself that would never happen to you, but once in the midst of a
temptation all sensible, right thinking goes by the wayside.
This is just another reason in a long line of
reasons why we as believers need to keep our focus on Christ and nothing
else. Look at how Jesus dealt with
Satan’s temptations in Matthew 4:1-11.
In each case during the 3 specific temptations Satan presented to the
Lord, Jesus rejected them with scripture.
We must know the word of
God. We simply must. The only way we will ever know it is to spend
time in it. If I didn’t believe it was so important I
wouldn’t say it so often. Knowing God as
intimately as humanly possible is to be our main goal and focus in this
life. Our life is now not our own. We’ve been bought with a price. You can turn away and go your own way, but
where else could you turn for hope, peace and forgiveness?
God is
faithful. He never fails in anything He
does and will always lead you where you need to go if you allow Him to. He will never force you to do anything. We serve the Lord out of a willing heart and
not because we have to. Serve God and steer clear of temptations by
the power of the Spirit. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
