“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock
the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only
to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that
sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting
life from the Spirit.” Galatians 6:7-8
Some folks
think they’re pretty sly. They think
they can live one way in front of their fellow church members and pastor and
another way when outside the four walls of the church. They are fooling themselves in a major
way. They don’t know, nor do they
understand scripture. Oh, they may be
able to say all the right things when among the brethren, but as the secular
saying goes, “talk is cheap”. These
individuals obviously don’t realize that there is nothing that escapes the
Lord’s gaze. God knows about it all so
don’t think you can mock him with your flip-flopping lifestyle.
There are
consequences for every decision we make.
Just because you can fool those around you doesn’t make you impervious
to the consequences that will most assuredly follow. If you engage in sinful activity you will
reap the whirlwind of your self-absorbed decisions. No one escapes. No one fools God. No one has ever faked his or her way into
heaven. It is critical for the Christian
to take his walk with the Lord very seriously.
Striving to live a life that imitates Christ should be our main goal. When in doubt seek wise counsel.*
Don’t be
one of those who slink thru life with one foot in the world and one in the
kingdom. Be all in for God. Kill your own sinful nature once and for all
and utilize the self-control the Holy Spirit offers to resist making wrong
decisions. You aren’t missing out on one good thing in life by serving God, for
the world offers nothing of any eternal value. Until next time, walk with the
King and be a blessing!
