OUR SOURCE OF ALL COMFORT

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT
Did you know that we go thru trials not only to build up our faith and trust in God, but also so we can empathize and therefore comfort those going thru a similar or perhaps identical situation?  Paul shares this notion with the Corinthian believers. This statement by itself should bring comfort to us.  Truly the Lord is worthy of all glory, honor and praise for He is merciful when we deserve anything but mercy.  Instead of giving us what we deserve He provides comfort during and following our difficulties.
God is indiscriminant in that He doesn’t pick and choose the times He will bring comfort to us.  Scripture reveals to us that the Lord comforts us in all our troubles.  When we’re going thru a difficult time it’s probably the last thing on our mind to use what we are experiencing to bring comfort and a sense of peace to those who are also hurting.  It’s only after we have met the Lord at the end of our circumstance that our spiritual eyes are opened to the needs of others regarding similar events.
We strive to please the Lord and seek ways to minister His love, mercy and grace, sometimes never realizing that our difficult times walking thru the valleys of life can be a tremendous blessing to those God brings across our path.  Be keenly aware of those around you and listen for their still, small cries for help, then move in and stand in the gap with them.  You will undoubtedly receive a far greater blessing then they if you do.  Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
