“And we know that God causes everything to work together for
the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for
them.” Romans 8:28 New Living Translation
What is the ‘good’ that God caused to work
together for us who love God? Our ultimate good and God’s plan for us as his
children is to because like his Son Jesus. That should be our overriding goal
in this life, to because like Christ in thought, word and deed. God has all
other bases covered. This is the paramount task as a believer in the Lord, to
seek and strive to become more like the Son of God in every aspect of our
lives. Nothing else matters; nothing! If we do that one thing everything else will
take care of itself.
There is no one on this earth that is good
by God’s definition of what good is. He refers to us all as sinners who have
fallen short of his glory (Romans 3:23). Therefore,
one must assume that God has a higher standard than that which we’ve grown
accustomed.
That
standard is to become like Jesus. We cannot do it alone and God doesn’t expect
us to. That is why he sent his Holy Spirit to reside within us. That is why it
is imperative that we listen for his still, small voice. Many voices will
attempt to distract you, pulling you one way or another. It is thru communing
with God that you become familiar with the voice of the Spirit so that those
other voices will slowly become white noise to you.
No matter what may happen to you, God
knows all about it and he is in absolute control. All things happen for a
reason and God knows what that reason is. We may find out the reason at some
future time, but knowing why isn’t important. What’s important is that God is
on his throne and he works all things out for your ultimate good. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
