“…make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement
your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence
with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient
endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly
affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow
like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted
or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.”

Peter 1:5-9 New Living Translation
As we draw closer to our Lord we have a
much easier time distinguishing moral excellence from that which is amoral.
This moral excellence goes hand in hand with knowledge, patience and
self-control. These are behavioral traits that are infused in us by the Holy
Spirit, who is our guide thru life. The more we grow in the grace and knowledge
of the Lord, the more useful we will be for the kingdom of God.
Those who fail to mature spiritually are
prone to falling back into sin, sometimes repeatedly, sometimes permanently.
Once you are cleansed of all your sins why would you ever want to dive back
into the slop of this unfulfilling life? It’s as if salvation meant very little
or nothing at all to you. Who has deceived you into thinking you have had the
muck and mire of this world cleansed from the deepest part of your soul only to
step right back into the filth once again? God is not mocked and his grace and
mercy have not come without a great price being paid.
For those who are dedicated to serving God
in whatever capacity he deems necessary, you are to be highly commended, for
God is very pleased with you. For those who ‘take the money and run’ so to
speak regarding forgiveness and things powerful promises of God, shame shall be
your legacy and a fiery pit your destiny. It’s not as God would have it, it is
what you have caused thru your foolish choices. Until next time, walk with the
King and be a blessing!
