“Every time I think of
you, I give thanks to my God.” Philippians 1:3 New Living
Translation
Have you ever been grateful for
someone’s presence in your life? I have. What a wonderful sentiment to express
toward someone you know and love. It can be a spouse, a family member or a dear
friend. No matter who it is, their positive effect on your life makes you feel
joy with a grateful heart.
The Apostle Paul established the church in
Philippi on his 2nd missionary journey. It is the first church founded
on the European continent. Paul’s remembrance of them brings joy to his heart.
It warms his soul and ignites his spirit to think of them. Is there anyone in
your life that does that for you?
God is infinitely good and fills us with
joy and peace in many ways. One way is our relationship with a trusted friend
or intimate mate. It is difficult to make it in this life alone, so God enabled
us to have these precious souls in our life. The only relationship that should
be eclipsed by the one we have with Christ is the one we have with our spouse.
Aside from Jesus, who according to scripture “sticks
closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24), our relationship with
our spouse should be a joyful experience.
Do you give thanks to God for your spouse and any other folks that are a
blessing to you? Until next time, walk
with the King and be a blessing!
